Mystic Mountain

This pillar of dust and gas resembles a massive mountain -- that looks like nothing on Earth. It's located in the Carina Nebula, a stellar nursery, which is about 7,500 light-years away. Radiation and winds of charged particles from newborn stars are shaping and compressing this pillar, causing new stars to form inside it.

An Awesome Planetary Nebula

Hubble snapped this beautiful shot. Our own Sun may exhibit this behavior as it reaches the end of it's life and creates it's own Planetary Nebula.
